What is a llapaca?

A llapaca is is a cria of a female llama and a male alpaca. The reason they can be more desirable is that they are easier to deliver. Since the alpaca is smaller than a llama it is easier for the llama to deliver and with less complications.

Also, the cria has the personality of its mother. They are usually way more friendly than the alpacas and offer their services as a companion to the sick and elderly in nursing homes.

Finally, they have the fiber of the alpaca. It is wonderful for any spinner or crafter.

Larry, is our first llapaca baby. He has been a wonderful addition to our farm. His personality is just like his mother, Lily. He is very affectionate and loves people. He is the first one to the fence to meet any person that wonders past. He loves to give kisses and he can be touched anywhere by anyone, young or old.

Lily is expecting again in May.
The newest addition on the farm is Linus. He was born June 5, 2017. He is so cute with wonderful markings.

What Our Clients Are Saying

The Cronicans are so nice and provided us with a lot of information that really helped us with our first lamb. They even took the time to show us how to trim toenails, when, what and where to give a shot.  They also showed us what dewormer to use and when would be a good time to use it.

The Cronican Farm has the best chicken I have ever tasted. I like that I know where my meat is coming from and what it was fed and how it was kept. That really means plenty to me and my family.

We love visiting the farm.  My children love spending time feeding the sheep, horse and llamas.  Larry, the llapaca, is the highlight of our trip. He is so sweet and will anyone handle him and take selfies with.  We also like buying jellies and honey.
